What practice is my Little Laker in?
Little Lakers have been assigned to one 30-minute practice slot. Your practice time has been communicated to you via email.
What time is practice when my Little Laker moves up to Lane 6?
You can find the information for 8 and Under practice times under the Practice tab on Swimtopia.
What is the goal for Little Lakers?
The ultimate goal for any Little Laker is to move up to the "big lanes" or the 8 and Under practice. Your swimmers will surprise you! It is a big deal to move up to the big lanes - for the coaches AND the swimmers. Celebrate their success! :)
What does my swimmer need to accomplish to move to the big lanes?
To move up, a swimmer needs to be able to put his or her face underwater, have freestyle arms that come all the way out of the water (generally catch up free arms) roll on his or her back, and be able to float while doing so. He or she should be able to do all of those things consistently for one full length of the pool.
Do Little Lakers participate in Fun Fridays?
YES!! Our Fun Fridays are meant to build our swim community and the spirit of our swim team. ALL registered swimmers - Little, Big, Aspiring, Swim Parents, but just not pets...are welcome and encouraged to participate in our Fun Friday events. Fun Fridays are not only a chance for us to build up our swimmers representing us in A meets, but also to have fun, socialize, and enjoy our neighborhood.
Do Little Lakers participate in meets?
Little Lakers do not participate in A or B meets. These are described under the "Meets and Events" tab on Swimtopia. Once your Little Laker has moved into the big lanes, he or she will be eligible for a B meet; and over time or maybe even a season or two, he or she will be eligible for an A meet.
My Little Laker moved up and is swimming in a B-meet. What do I do?
Volunteer! If your swimmer participates in a B meet, one parent from each family is expected to volunteer. There are many volunteer positions and no matter which role you are able to fill, you will always be able to watch your child swim. Please see Swimtopia for more info on our different volunteer positions.
